I've never seen anyone else wearing a pink shirt in Iraq but I know that there are a lot of military types that are resentful that they can never wear anything but a uniform over here in Iraq even on their off time. My favorite shirt is this Tommy-Bahama silk polo that really looks great. I'll have to pull that out and take a pic or two.
Also summer is definitely over here in Iraq. Which means my runs at lunchtime won't be as enjoyable. One nice thing about running in the heat is that you can really work up a sweat and that is generally a good thing. You do want to be careful from becoming dehydrated as that would be bad. I'm careful though and the trick on a really hot day is to run in wet clothes. The portable 'AC' will keep you relatively cool for about 30 minutes or so.
Finally from all the pics I've posted what you don't see is the heat or the noise. Yes, there is lots of noise on base since there are so many damn generators. However progress here has meant power lines everywhere. But where there is a power line/pole means there is now no longer any generator and these can be very big and loud generators.

Hello! I am wondering if maybe you can help me. My husband is stationed at Joint Base Balad, and from reading your blogs you are there also. If you could, please e-mail me that would be great. I would like to be able to talk to someone over there. I have not heard from my husband in 5 days and I am getting worried.... amyfossette74@q.com Thank you.
