052710 "Let's have a run, but not some pansy-assed run where ALL you do is run!"

052710 "Let's have a run, but not some pansy-assed run where ALL you do is run!"

So being on an active Army/Air Force base in a deployed 'hazardous
duty' zone there are some genuinely tough guys (and gals) out there
that just don't want to do a 5K run where all you do is run! For some
they feel the need to 'run' in full combat gear (with weapon - but not
loaded) under barbed wire and around all sorts of objects AND through
a bona-fide mud puddle in the desert! So this is just what they're
going to be doing this coming weekend. And maybe afterward, if they
feel up to it, they'll do the bad-poetry/spoken word thing (uh, but
that was last week.)
The point is this isn't your Army of even 10 years ago and I gotta
wonder what it'll be like in 10 years from now...here in Iraq?
(still???)
On another point it's certainly getting hotter here (as the poster
above mentions.) Yesterday I had to spend the day in bed. I had a
headache, nausea and cold sweats. I guess I need to heed the warning
and drink more water there.
And on another point further, my bike was stolen the other night
(which made me upset and probably started my headache). The living
area where I am is only accessible by US civilians and US Army
personnel so take your pick. It's a big base, people are people and
stuff happens. I'm first phase of grief (that being denial) so anger
is right around the corner. It just sucks but it's not the end of the
world. After all it was just a bike. But it still sucks.

051410 Bodybuilders are short so they can accentuate the size of their...trophy!

051410 Bodybuilders are short so they can accentuate the size of their...trophy!

At JBB this last weekend there was a bb (that's Body Building!)
contest. I knew one of the contestants (the guy with the pics and the
severely pierced ears). But DANG, I didn't recognize him at the show
since he was all globbed up with the tanning stuff and had a weird
hair-do (he usually wears a hat though.) Otherwise it was uh
'interesting'. If you ever want to feel tall, just go to a body
building contest. The commander handing out a trophy in one of the
pics is maybe 6'2 max, but she sure seems to tower over the guy to
whom she's giving the trophy.
This last week was also the first week where every (dang) day was over
100+. It'll be this way until mid September or so.
